The wait is over, and we have definitively written history. Following a rigorous verification process, Guinness World Records officially confirmed the success of the World’s Highest Marathon. Furthermore, they certified this event—held last February on the slopes of the Ojos del Salado volcano—as an unprecedented milestone. Consequently, this validates the immense effort of a dedicated team that boldly defied the limits of extreme altitude and human endurance.

Running a marathon is, by definition, a severe test of endurance. However, attempting to complete those 42 kilometers at over 6,000 meters of altitude, in an environment of extreme hypoxia, is a challenge that borders on the very limits of physiology. Therefore, at High Mountain Expeditions (HME), we designed the precise logistical architecture that made it possible for the World’s Highest Marathon to go from being an ambitious goal to a globally certified reality.
